Beautiful Like Me Project Home

Welcome to the Beautiful Like Me Project Home.  This project is dedicated to all the beautiful people in my life.  The driving force behind this project is to raise awareness about the lack of self-esteem and poor body image in today’s youth.  I want to change the way that we look at ourselves and the way that the young women and men look at themselves.  My goal is to raise awareness on the web and hold local self-esteem and body image workshops.  It has long been said that one person can not change the world, but I hope that we can change the world together.  Five Flower Mom and Shout will be co-hosting the project.  Posting will begin on April 6th 2009 and will occur every two weeks on Mondays.  We will be inviting Join the movement, grab a badge and spread the word!

Future topics:

April 20th – What do today’s children and teens feel pressured to imitate?  Why?

May 4th – What features/qualities would we like today’s children to see as beautiful?

May 18th – In your opinion, what is the best way to build self-esteem?

June 1st – What person or people are the most influential about how you feel about yourself?  Who influences you the most to feel beautiful?

June 15th – What event or time did you feel your most beautiful?  How did this event shape your view of yourself? Do your family, friends and children know about this event and how important it was?

[…] Wicked Step Mom, Five Flower Mom, and Shout are all co-hosting this project.  The point if it is to make a real effort to teach our children to love themselves for what they are, not what they are “supposed” to be. I’ve been off in la-la-bloggy land, but this is worth coming back for. […]

I just found out about your project from Judy over at Coffee Jitters with Judy Haley.

I know how many problems I faced due to low self-esteem (not anymore, though) and this is a bigger issue than some realize. I would love to help others see the truth and find their own beauty. It took me quite sometime to be comfortable with myself….I spent many years trying to be like “this or that” person, instead of just being happy with myself….

Kudos for spreading the word! I’m grabbing a badge and will help you spread awareness.
